A Right Royal Event

Last Friday night in Neath we held the Grand Opening of our new contemporary arts centre, Studio 40!

The opening exhibition “Corgis & Coronets' was inspired by the Queen's Platinum Jubilee, and out of respect for Her Majesty's beloved dogs!

Over 40 artists have submitted work, all very different in technique, style and imagination. The works on show feature all manner of dogs, cats, horses, birds, and also a pig!

There are delightful wire sculptures of Boxing Hares, a Bee, and other creatures, also a wonderful, crocheted Corgi, complete with Crown!

They are all on display until Sunday June 26th, when the works will be auctioned off by local celebrity Captain Beany! Don't miss it! Sealed advance bids can be made in person in the gallery, or online.

All proceeds in excess of the artist's reserve price will go to various local animal rescue centres. The evening was very lively, lots of fun, and well attended, drinks were offered, and classical guitarist Russel Lloyd played throughout.

We have many future plans involving International Art exhibitions, workshops, classes, a Quilt Festival and also an Art and Literary Festival.

Keep updated as to what we are up to here on our website! Lota good things to come....

Thanks to all who came on Friday night. Here are some images for those who couldn't make it.
